schools
We are currently offering our program to fourth, fifth and
sixth graders in over 100 classes at 35 schools in four school districts (Los
Angeles Unified School District, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District,
Burbank Unified School District and Paramount Unified School District), reaching
over 4,000 kids in the greater Los Angeles area.
The student population in all of these schools is overwhelmingly low-income:
94% of the children at Hillcrest Drive Elementary School,
97% of the children at Santa Monica Boulevard Community Charter School, 98%
of the children at Leo Politi Elementary School, 100% of the children at Sheridan
Street School participate in a free or reduced-price lunch program. (As we
expand and add additional schools, we intend to continue to focus our efforts
on schools that serve a pre-dominantly low-income population.)
